It is now two years (written in March 2003) since the first KLEENtect treatment was carried out on Nick Jenning's Land Rover 90. Since then about a further 40 vehicles have had the KLEENtect treatment. Has the KLEENtect lived up to expectations? Well Nick Jenning's 90 has been extremely well used off road. Nick does marshalling, trialling, green laning - you name it! Most week ends see some kind of off road activity. Yet there is no rust apparent anywhere apart from a small area on a mud flap bracket. (Nick's 90 was already 10 years old when I did it and I had to treat quite a lot of rust before applying the KLEENtect - I think I must have missed this bit on the bracket). There are absolutely no signs of any damage to the KLEENtect anywhere at all (apart from places where the chassis has been grounded) However, during my last inspection of Nick's 90 I used my super powerful pressure washer to clean the underneath and the super concentrated pencil jet did take off some small areas of the "stayKLEEN" clear coat before I realised what was happening. This should not be a problem in normal use because nobody apart from me would have this kind of concentrated pressure. However, if you are using a pressure washer it is probably best to avoid using a "pencil jet" and use a "fan jet". In any case with the KLEENtect it is much better to concentrate on getting any mud really wet and the mud will then just drop off . "Brute force" pressure should no longer be needed. This can be done with just an ordinary garden hose.

One very early KLEENtect customer has reported some delamination of the KLEENtect on small areas of the chassis where Land Rover's underbody wax was not totally removed (about 1or 2% of the underbody area). This can be easily rectified and I have offered to have the vehicle transported to my premises free of charge so I can do this rectification plus a "whole day valet" free of charge.

Up until now this has been the only complaint and I do not anticipate any more. Over the past two and a half years I have been able to greatly improve and refine my techniques as you would expect and I am now achieving a superb finish with the KLEENtect. A graphic artist has designed some "KLEENtect" badges for me which I "embed" in the clearcoat. I am now so confident with the KLEENtect that I can offer you this guarantee:

If, within five years you see any delamination of the coating or any rust exceeding more than six square inches in total I will give you a complete refund. There are some small conditions but these are just to protect myself from abuse.

Condition 1. Areas that have suffered "grounding" will not be counted. (All customers are now given tins of "smoothrite", colour matched to the KLEENtect so customers can now easily touch up any such damage)

Condition 2. Delamination of just the "stayKLEEN" coating alone will not be counted as this can be caused by a very high pressure water "pencil jet" in close proximity to the coating (and customers should be careful to avoid doing this of course.) I will be happy to repair any such delamination free of charge.

Condition 3. It is possible for me to tell if the KLEENtect has been deliberately removed to make a false claim. I have written down details about this and my accountant has a sealed letter containing these details. If I believe a false claim is being made, the customer and myself will agree on an independent arbitrator who will be given the letter and asked to make the final decision.

Condition 4. The vehicle must be brought to my premises for my inspection.

Condition 5. Although a full refund will be made, the vehicle must first be made available to Before `n' After for rectification. The rectification will be carried out free of charge. No refund will be given before this rectification has been carried out.

There are no conditions on the use of the vehicle. KLEENtect is intended for use on vehicles subjected to continuous and hard, off-road use.
